The Walter-Guillaume collection

The lower level contains the Walter-Guillaume collection, an assembly of impressionist and post-impressionist art. This section features paintings that art dealer Paul Guillaume and architect Jean Walter gathered during the 20th century. Specific paintings on display include Renoir's Jeunes filles au piano, Cézanne's Pommes et biscuits, Modigliani's Antonia, and Derain's Arlequin et Pierrot. The museum presents the art chronologically, allowing guests to explore the development of modern European techniques. Temporary exhibitions

Closing days and special dates

The museum remains permanently closed to the public every Tuesday. The facility also implements annual closures on May 1, the morning of July 14 for Bastille Day preparations, and December 25. The management executes temporary closures of specific rooms or the entire building due to security requirements, weather conditions, or maintenance work. How to get there

The museum sits in the Tuileries Garden, next to the Place de la Concorde. Visitors reach the site through the Paris transport network via several routes. RATP bus lines 24, 42, 72, 73, 84, and 94 maintain stops near the garden entrances on the Rue de Rivoli or Quai des Tuileries. Visitors walking from the Louvre Museum travel approximately 15 minutes west through the gardens to reach the entrance. Pedestrians arriving from the Musée d'Orsay cross the Passerelle Léopold-Sédar-Senghor footbridge to reach the facility in 10 minutes.

Entrances

The main entrance to the Musée de l'Orangerie faces the Seine on the south side of the Tuileries Garden, near the Place de la Concorde. The building features a single primary access point for all visitors, which connects to the main lobby and ticket counters. The entrance area is fully accessible for individuals with reduced mobility and wheelchair users. The administration eliminates architectural barriers at the doorway to facilitate smooth entry.
